Carlton & United Breweries partner with Orora to create the 2022 AFL Geelong Premiership Can

Orora is proud to partner with Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), as we work together to bring some of Australia’s most iconic and loved brands to life. Through Orora’s Decoration Centre of Excellence (DCE), CUB partnered with Orora to produce the 2022 Premiership Can for the Geelong Cats following their epic 81 point win in the 2022 AFL Grand Final. 

Working together with CUB, which is a proud part of Asahi Beverages, the Orora Beverage Cans team and our Decoration Centre of Excellence (DCE) delivered 30,000 cartons of Carlton Draught, with fans rushing to snatch up the limited edition Carlton Draught x Geelong cans before they sold out.

In the lead-up to the AFL Grand Final season, the Orora Cans team pre-plan out the limited edition AFL premiership can designs and production schedule up to eight weeks ahead of the big game, using the top four clubs on the ladder. After the preliminary finals, designs are reduced to the top two teams forecast to win so the production can start quickly once the premiership winner is decided. The Geelong premiership can went into production just 24 hours after the Geelong Cats raised the premiership cup and 720,000 cans were delivered to the CUB Abbotsford facility the following Tuesday for filling.

A great deal of planning and preparation goes into the development of these extra special cans, and a quick turnaround for fans and customers is what we pride ourselves on at Orora.

The Geelong Cats premiership cans were featured on the Channel 7, 9, and 10 bulletins, where AFL stars including Joel Selwood, Tom Hawkins, and Isaac Smith alongside Cats legend Billy Brownless, posed proudly holding the Orora-made, Carlton Draught Geelong Cats premiership cans.
