Innovation and collaboration have taken centre stage with the launch of long-term customer Coopers for their limited-edition Supercars can. This is the first saleable product to roll off Orora’s new Helio line, powered by the Velox IDS-NC500 digital direct-to-can printing system at our Dandenong South site.
Coopers Dry 3.5 Supercars can made using Helio by Orora™
Earlier this year, our Innovation & Design team partnered with Coopers to develop three distinct Helio concepts, each highlighting the unique finishes made possible by this cutting-edge print technology. Drawing inspiration from the Supercars event, each concept explored different design elements, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in can design. The goal was to create a bold, exclusive look that captured the spirit of the Coopers–Supercars partnership and amplified the campaign’s impact. After presenting the concepts to Coopers, the first option was selected to move forward – the very design seen in the hands of car enthusiasts and fans at the event.
Orora really pushed the boundaries on this design to make the can standout with a broad spectrum of colour and unique texture,” Coopers Managing Director Michael Shearer said.
"The end result is a great looking can that holds a great tasting beer. The Coopers Dry 3.5 Supercars can is truly unique and sure to become a collector’s item among race goers and beer can enthusiasts.”
First for Helio by Orora™
Coopers x Helio by Orora™ cans come to life on the track
This milestone marks the first Helio-printed cans to enter the market, showcasing the advanced capabilities of digital direct-to-can printing. Developed in collaboration with Coopers, the commemorative can features a high-build finish on the iconic Coopers logo and a gloss treatment across the design. Leveraging Helio’s near limitless colour gamut – including orange, light magenta, and light cyan ink stations – the can delivers vibrant tones and smooth gradients for maximum visual impact.
Andrew Morwood, Head of Orora’s Decoration Centre of Excellence, shared:
Coopers is the first partner that has embraced the full potential of Helio. From start to finish, it has been a collaborative project that brought together our in-house Innovation & Design and the Decoration Centre of Excellence with the Coopers brand and marketing team to ideate, create and produce an innovative, commemorative design that could only be delivered using Helio.”
Celebrating Coopers and Repco Supercars Partnership
Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 (24–26 October 2025)
These cans were created to celebrate Coopers’ role as the official Beer, Cider and Non-Alcoholic Beer Partner of the Repco Supercars Championship. Under this three-year partnership, Coopers holds exclusive pourage rights at most Supercars events. The limited-edition cans debuted at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 (24–26 October 2025) and was available exclusively in main public bars and corporate areas, where an estimated 200,000 racegoers experienced this striking design firsthand.
Coopers have partnered with Orora Glass and Cans for over 15 years and we are truly proud to see the possibilities of Helio in action and in consumers hands.
This project is a testament to what’s possible using Helio – and it’s just the beginning for what’s to come for the can decoration and design space.
It’s evident the Helio decoration capability is able to significantly differentiate the look of the can, that will have a positive effect on the shopper’s choice at the point of purchase.
Orora has officially launched Helio by Orora™, a revolutionary high-speed digital can printing solution that is set to transform the beverage packaging landscape across Oceania.
Orora has committed to a significant ~$130M investment to expand production capacity at its Rocklea facility in Queensland, supporting increased demand for 375ml classic-sized cans. The Rocklea expansion, in combination with recent and ongoing projects, will increase Cans capacity by more than 30%.
Orora has further enhanced its innovative design capability through Orora Express, a new customer portal than allows Cans customers to see their packaging designs take shape in real time, including viewing lifelike 3D renders of can artwork.
